Reading Roundup #26: Vacation Reads

Happy Wednesday! I ran away this week, and I was so busy sight-seeing and devouring delicious food, that I didn’t finish many books. But the ones I did read were all enjoyable, and just what my tired brain needed. And as promised, things are getting murder-y again. *ominous chuckle*

“Lord Peter Wimsey” books #2-) by Dorothy L. Sayers: Okay, I liked book 1. But I loved book 2, and book 3 is another solid entry. The mysteries were more complicated this time (with a solution I did not predict in #2), and the characters? Delightful. I love them. I especially liked how Clouds of Witness takes the time to develop Lord Peter and Parker’s friendship, giving us some great moments of humor, drama, and camaraderie.

For Vacation Only by Mila Nicks: For Vacation Only is a breezy rom-com about two lost souls who embrace adventure and find love along the way. The writing is predictable and on-the-nose, but not every story needs to be an emotional epiphany. Sometimes, a book hits the spot simply by being sweet and feel-good, and this one is carried all the way to the happy ending by the cute-as-a-button OTP. I also read it as I was gearing up for my own little adventure (nothing so grand as a Mediterranean cruise, of course!), and Jubilee and Blake’s fun got me all excited for my own explorations! Thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op and NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
