Reading Roundup #99: A Book Worth Reading

I’ve been chipping away at long-read projects this week, so it’s only a small roundup, but it’s a good one. These historical romances may not be groundbreaking, but if you want charming protagonists and romantic adventure (in multiple senses), you’ll find these are thoroughly enjoyable books to while an evening!

A Heart Worth Stealing by Joanna Barker: A lovely blending of romance and mystery, with characters seeking purpose and contentment amidst big life changes. By the final chapters, I was completely in love with Genevieve and Jack and their relationship. In the beginning, they seem total opposites who could only nettle each other to distraction, but soon enough they’re indispensable to each other’s daily happiness. I appreciated that their love was built as much on attraction as on mutual respect, and there was nothing more swoonworthy than Jack’s (eventual) deference to Genevieve’s capability and judgment. The longing glances and passionate kisses come close, however. My thanks to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

A Problem Princess (Lords of the Armory #6) by Anna Harrington: This was a really fun, quick read that balances sweet and steamy nicely. I was a little unsure about the first couple of chapters, but once it settled in with the characters, I got lost in it and in watching the leads grow closer. Did they go from strangers to I-can’t-live-without-you a little faster than I expected? Maybe, but putting the plot’s historical inspiration aside, this is pure fantasy, and I thoroughly enjoyed it as such. My thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

What books are you reading this week?
