Ahem. You didn’t really think I’d let the publication of a new Phoenix Pictures story go unmarked, did you? If anything could bring me back from hiatus, it’s an Old Hollywood shifter romance from Brianne Gillen!
The latest novella from the Phoenix Pictures Vault, My Favorite Leopard follows onscreen femme fatale and secret leopard-shifter Lina Leonard and the studio’s newest animal trainer, Tony Benson. Inter-species matchmaking abounds as Lina and Tony work together to help to lovelorn leopards… and get a little romantic help of their own from a litter of mischievous kittens. Animal attraction is easy, but will secrets keep Lina and Tony apart?
A fun, sexy read, My Favorite Leopard manages to pack a lot of heart into only 200 pages. The couple’s chemistry is great, but it has to contend with very real personality differences that create believable conflict. And watching how they overcome those differences and insecurities is equally believable and satisfying. Add to that escape-artist kitten shenanigans, a nefarious circus plot (did I mention there’s a lot packed in here?), and plenty of Easter eggs for fans of Old Hollywood generally and Bringing Up Baby (1938) particularly, and it’s impossible not to love this book. Returning to Phoenix Pictures is always a joy, and I hope we’ll be back again soon for more romance and hijinks!
Many thanks to the author for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
